SimplyLivingSmart
has one purpose--to provide the best training and resources possible to
help you become more prepared. We now offer seminars and classes upon
request.
Hands-on
Sessions
These classes are designed to be hands-on. You will complete a project,
participate in the preparation, or otherwise work directly with the
instructors. We insist that you will return to your home with
practical, ready-to-use knowledge and experience. During a seminar you
will receive a binder and material from each class.
Supplies
and Products
In addition to the class or seminar, whenever possible we will bring a
truck of food supplies at discounted prices, equipment--especially
unique or specialized items, and other relevant books and educational
materials. Prior to the seminar, we will create an online signup form
that will allow the participants to indicate supplies and products that
they would be interested in purchasing at discounts. SimplyLivingSmart
continually tries to eliminate barriers to help you be more prepared.

| Key Principles of Preparation
Do
you sometimes feel that you don't know exactly where you are in the
preparation process? If you want practical steps, these classes will
help you plan the necessary actions, build a plan, and teach you some
of the most critical parts of preparing physically. These classes are
not created to entertain (although they are entertaining). They are
designed to have you walk away with a clear plan.
|
| Planning Evaluation |
NOT
TO BE MISSED. This class is a must for anyone just getting started and
extremely helpful for everyone else. Pre-registered participants
receive inventory material before the class with instructions. During
the class we discuss the 7 basic foods for storage, then add canned
goods. We calculate needs and then begin to create an individualized
goal sheet for your particular family. Then we turn attention
to emergency preparedness. When you finish this class, you will have a
personalized step-by-step goal and progress chart. |
Water
Purification
and Storage |
Learn
the details about water purification and storage. Examine several
different water containers. Help in the process of purifying water. Use
various filters. Complete water purification kits will be available. |
| Year's
Supply of Fuel |
Yes,
it is possible to store a year's supply of fuel. We will discuss and
show how to conserve and use wood, charcoal, kerosene, propane, and
alcohol. In addition, we will discuss various types of stoves and
inexpensive tools. You will see a "hay box" (insulated cooking box)
working. There is no reason that most households cannot store
at least a month of cooking and heating fuel, but a year's supply is
also achievable. |
| Hand-operated Well
Pump |
Build
a very efficient hand pump that will pull water from a deep well. Each
participant will build this pump in class. This hand pump
relies on water pressure, not air pressure, so it is possible to pull
water (or any other liquid such as gasoline) from underground sources.
This is an inexpensive tool that is vital for preparation. |
| "Hay
Box" Construction |
Build
a functioning "Hay Box." This insulated box will allow me to cook a
complete meal for a large family with only about 20 minutes of fuel. In
this class you make this box from scratch. |
| Kearny Radiation
Meter |
Build
a radiation meter from simple materials. This radiation meter has been
extensively tested. It does not rely on batteries or any other power
source and it is always accurate. It does not need to be calibrated. It
is recommended in Nuclear
War Survival Skills that every family have or know how to
make this meter. |
